Concrete Resurfacing Preparations
- Thorough cleaning is required before resurfacing. All dirt, oil and grease should be removed because it could affect the ability of the overlay to bond.
- All coatings, sealers, or paints that have been applied to the concrete must also be removed.
- Taking any unsound concrete down to solid concrete, such as slight spalling, scaling, or delamination.
- Filling active cracks to prevent them from refracting through the overlay. Any crack whether it is large or small needs to be repaired.
- To increase the “grip” of the overlay, the concrete surface needs to be profiled, or roughened.
